I had created Top and bottom report issue is for blanks also by default ranking assigns. And I wanted to write dax for Top 5 & Bottom 5.
this is the query i have written for Top and Bottom-Top Prtfl 2 = RANKX(ALL(RZ_PROD_D[PRTFL_LVL_2]),[Total Events],,DESC,Dense)
Bottom Prtfl 2 = RANKX(ALLSELECTED(RZ_PROD_D[PRTFL_LVL_2]), [Total Events],,ASC,Dense)

You could use if function to determine whether it is blank.
