search multiple values (google-like search field)

Hi, Thanks for your patience with me and hopefully I can be directed/redirected to instructions that will help. I am new to all of this and powerbi. I just want a search field from which I could look up various part numbers for a given table (plug ABC and DEF in the search bar, then get both results for the line containing ABC and the line containing DEF). I was able to upload my table to power BI. Then I followed this Youtube video Simplify User Navigation - The Ultimate Google-like Search Bar in Power BI but I can only look up one item at a time. I was able to create another search box slicer, but for that one you still have to look them up individually, then select, then look up the next one in the search bar...

Thanks, M-A

Thank you for the reply from uzuntasgokberk .

Hi @Magin3 ,

The text slicer has limited to just one selection point currently.

If you are trying to achieve a result that filters more than one, we could use the built-in slicer's search function.

Click on the '...' icon of the slicer and check “Search” to open the slicer's search function.

You could also filter only for specific visual objects or for the entire page of the report.

If the above ones still not help you get the expected result, please provide some raw data in your tables (exclude sensitive data) with Text format and your expected result with backend logic and special examples. It would be helpful to find out the solution. You can refer the following link to share the required info:

And It is better if you can share a simplified pbix file. You can refer the following link to upload the file to the community. Thank you.

Hello @Magin3 ,

There is "text slicer" visualization on visualization pane to solve your problem.

To use this do not forget to enable.

Thanks so much! part a) solved. part b) of my question was; if I need to find both 41 and 42 how would I enter it in the searchbox for it to retrieve both results? The searchbox is a SearchFilter formula.

this isn't pulling anything up

Hello @Magin3 ,

For the new text slicer, you need to add a calculated column if you want to search across multiple columns. For example, if you want to search by forename and surname, you must create a new calculated column using DAX or M language and then use that column in the text slicer. However, currently, you cannot search for separate values like Name, Surname independently.

@Anonymous (Thank you for suggestion) suggestion might be the best solution for your case. His approach also requires providing a single value each time, meaning the value must be entered and enabled individually, rather than using a format like Name, Surname.
