row level security with conditions

Hi all -

This will be a challenge to explain in text form but here I go.

I need to setup RLS for multiple AD groups that will serve to only show each AD group there own specific data.

AD1 only sees AD1's data

AD2 only sees AD2's data

etc

So it would need to apply to all the filtering and all functions within the dashboard(s). We use RLS for other concepts, but usually its for hiding a full page or something at a higher level. We have never done this to keep all visuals intact, but just hide specific data from specific groups.

any ideas?

    Hi OFBReporting ,

You can create security roles for each AD group in Power BI Desktop and filter data under each role. After publishing the report to the Service, you need to configure RLS and assign security roles to AD groups. The cloud report data will be filtered according to different security roles.

The official documentation describes this in detail.

  • Hi OFBReporting ,

At what field do you want to filter the data?

Is it based on Company, Customer, Cost Center?

Do you have a table with the field that you need to get that filtering done? If it company for example do you have a company name or similar?

Can you provide some more context please.

  • OFBReporting  Hello,
you have to create a role in power bi desktop and add a role as per requiremen.
Publish your file to workspace and add your ad group mail id to that.

    Thanks
