I’m attempting to satisfy my DATA GOVERNANCE colleagues with evidence that supports my understanding of the underlying data shared within my report when using the PUBLISH TO WEB facility. To find a supporting Microsoft document would be ideal, however I’m unable to locate a such a document.
I want to explain MY understanding, which is as follows. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
1. My data source contains a table with fields NAME, ADDRESS 1, ADDRESS 2 & POSTCODE (Excel workbook). None of these fields are allowed to be seen by the public.
2. During the GET DATA stage, I remove the NAME, ADDRESS 1 & ADDRESS 2 columns from the table using QUERY. This leaves me with only the POSTCODE column. These POSTCODES are still considered sensitive and must not be available to the public.
3. Using GET DATA again I import another Excel workbook table from a PUBLIC SOURCE (this can be seen by the public). POSTCODES are grouped into COUNTIES. This table is used to categorise/group my POSTCODES.
4. I link my POSTCODES TABLE to the COUNTIES TABLE.
5. Within the report I have created a chart that COUNTS the number of MY POSTCODES that are within each COUNTY.
6. This report is then PUBLISHED TO WEB.
Data that CANNOT be seen within the published report includes fields NAME, ADDRESS 1, ADDRESS 2 & POSTCODE.
Data that CAN be seen is the quantity (integer) of postcodes within each COUNTY.
