I recently got a new laptop and migrated all my PBI files onto it. When I experienced issues with data refreshes I read about the need for an on-premises gateway which I duly installed & used the gatewat recovery key to resintate it.
Trouble is, I still keep getting the following error:
I have clearly missed something - is there a setting or an authentication that I need to do before I regain full access?
(none of the underlying data or models have changed since migrating to a new laptop)
Solved! Go to Solution.
In the Fabric/Power BI environment, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner. Select Manage Connections and Gateways. Then select the middle tab: On-premise data gateways. If you installed a Gateway in Personal Mode, YOU should have access to it, and I think it should tell you there.
Under the Connections tab, test out the connection to that SQL Server.

Can you tell us if the SQL Database is on the laptop? Is the Gateway in Personal Mode?

The database is not on the laptop. How would I check if the gateway is in personal mode?
