Hi all,
I know this is a common issue that was already addressed but I couldn't find a solution.
I am restarting a project with the same data base imported from folder, that contains a high amount of columns, and when I try to change anything in query, the refresh gets stuck in "Creating connection in model".
I remember I had the same issue when I first started my project, and I'm pretty sure I resolved it using a suggestion of this forum to delete empty columns at the end of my data base.
However now I don't seem to have any empty column on my whole data base. I also tried unticking the common suggested boxes for this problem in Options and Settings. Finally, I tried unticking "include in report refresh" in query.
I don't know if anybody had the same issue and found a solution?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Thomas
Hi, @ThomasRichard
As you already tried with empty columns and so then try to do these,
1. Simplify complex DAX formulas and review model relationships.
2. Filter out unnecessary data, use summarised data, and consider incremental refreshes.
3. Ensure columns use the most efficient data types.
4. Break down large or complex queries into smaller ones. (we do it often with large queries, it works)
5. Check the data sources
6. Also, try to use performance analyzer to see the bottleneck.
Also try unchecking it if it is checked
lastly, if the problem persists try contacting support team.

Thank you for your quick answer,
I think it's not a problem of "slow process", but rather an impossibility to resolve the process.
I say that because I work on the same data with this huge amount of columns and had no problem since I found the solution the first time.
Also I tried to remove all columns except 20, and it is still stuck the same.
As I said, I tried unticking those boxes already.
I can try the performance analyzer to see if it gives me more infos, thanks.
let us know here if the performance analyzer works

I don't think the Performance Analyzer brings me anything, because when recording I can go on query, and when saving and exiting query it gets stuck and that's it.
The "Creating connection to model" message really comes whenever I edit my query for the first time after I imported the files. So once imported, I need to "clean" my data on query, and whenever I save and exit query, the message comes.
I tried even to do the simplest step on query before exiting (removing 9 top rows), and when exiting it gets stuck...
is there any problem with the datasource?
If you tried every possible solution then you might want to contact the support team.
