While I was trying to open a power bi report in desktop its throwing this error(file can't be opened. Either the file is encrypted or corrupted.) but the same report uploaded to service is opening in power bi service
Hi,rajendraongole1 ,thanks for your concern about this issue.
Your answer is excellent!
And I would like to share some additional solutions below.
Hi,@appz .I am glad to help you.
According to your description, you are experiencing a problem with a corrupted pbix file that cannot be opened.
In fact, rajendraongole1 has made the very good suggestion that you might want to try opening the target file on another computer to see if the problem is only localized to your computer or if it is the file itself.
Here are some additional suggestions that I hope you find helpful
1. Try updating the version of Power Bi desktop.
2. Reinstall Power BI Desktop, delete cache and registry information about Power BI Desktop.
3. As suggested by rajendraongole1, downloading the pbix file from a running Power BI Service is also a method you need to test.
4. Check that the file is not encrypted, if it is please ensure that you have sufficient permissions to access it.
Here is the documentation on this, hope it helps.

Hi @appz - Try opening the file on a different computer with Power BI Desktop installed. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your machine.
as you mentioned you are able to open the report in power bi services, If you have access to the report in Power BI Service, consider exporting the report as a .pbix file from the service and then try opening that newly downloaded file in Power BI Desktop.
Regarding Encrytion , power bi files typically are not encrypted, but if they were manually encrypted or if encryption tools were used, you might need to decrypt them first.Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the file, especially if it was shared with you.
Hope this information helps.
