I have a fact table with unique values for cost
PK - CostID
Range Name
Range Value
1, Low, 5
2, Medium, 10
3, High, 20
I have a dimension table with with a FK that relates to the PK CostID
PK - Dimension item ID
Dimension item name
FK - CostID
When creating a table view report, I'm able to display my dimension items with the respective values from related cost table. However, when I shift to bar chart view, my values aren't displayed. I only have the option to show count or sum of the cost table, not the actual value to the related dimension item. What am I doing wrong?
@billfjax , You can show the cost from the dimension on x-axis(Categorical axis). On y-axis the values would some so you might have to use an additional index column on x-axis.
ot shoe both item and cost on x-axis and expand it
I was able to get what I needed by creating a view of my relational tables and then connect power bi to the view. Thanks.
Sorry but your instruction did not help. As you can see the table view shows the unique value from the fact table that is related to the respective process. However, when I try to build bar chart, the y axis sums or counts all the values from the fact table (Cost) instead of just retrieving the value based on the PK FK relationship.
