Hi,
I use Power BI Desktop as my main tool for many hours. Usually I have several instances opened. One thing that is not so nice about the Desktop app is that when if finished refreshing data, it will pop up as front app, taking over the mouse and keyboard.
This is especially irritating when typing an email or instant message.
Is there a way to keep Power BI civilised in the background?
-Alex
Hi,
I refresh Power BI files in the cloud service, on a schedule. There is no other way to model new queries and new formulas than in desktop. I may have several Power BI Desktops refreshing in parralel. Some of them contain lots of data = long refresh times.
The scenario is:
-start refresh of a Power BI report that contains lots of data
-start typing an answer to this thread == Power BI app becomes a background app
-Power BI finishes loading and becomes the foreground app == takes control of the mouse and keyboard, regardless of whatever you are doing, like typing an answer, or running PowerShell commands.
SQL Manager does not pop uninvited into the foreground when it completed a long running query = the expected behaviour. Power BI Desktop does. How to stop this?
-Alex
@pokeRumpali , I refreshed the data of power bi, and I started using powerpoint. It did not display a message.
I even tried to close and apply, but the message did not come to me when I was on the second window.
The information you have provided is not making the problem clear to me. Can you please explain with an example.
Appreciate your Kudos.
When finished loading, Power BI will jump from being a background app to being the foreground app == interrupt whatever you were doing: typing an email, typing formulas in another Power BI instance etc.
