I am experiencing some severe geocoding issues with the basic map visual. I am aware that Bing Maps recently changed the procedure for categorizing geographic data, but as far as I can tell I have followed the new procedures. The changes were advertised as offering more accuracy, but they appear to have made things much worse. , I upgraded to the July build yesterday, so I don't know if that would have something to do with it.
But starting yesterday, I have countries like Taiwan and United Kingdom in a "Country/Region" cateogorized column, and they don't show on the map. Cities like Corpus Christi, TX and Kansas City, KS also do not appear. I have these coded as "places". If I switch the countries column to just country instead of "country/region", I lose 95% of my map points. If I switch the Cities from places to cities, nothing appears at all.
Is anybody else having this issue recently? Seems like a lot of general map problems, but I'd think there would be even more complaints if such common locations stopped coding properly. I would like to figure out if this problem has something to do with my local setup, or if there are larger problems that are causing maps to not function properly.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
jw
I just had to jump thru hoops yesterday to fix some of my maps. See the images attached to this post for examples of the extra data I had to add to my locations to get things working again...
