how to use GeoJSON file

Hi guys! Can anyone share how to use GeoJSON files on Github? I have no idea what I should do with it as I want to use the shape map function to show US counties and cities in the same map. I think there should be a link so that I can put it somewhere in Power Bi.

Hi @bbbbi01 ,

To use a GeoJSON file for creating a shape map in Power BI that displays US counties and cities, you'll need to convert the GeoJSON to TopoJSON format, as Power BI's Shape map visual supports TopoJSON files for custom maps. Here's a concise action plan to guide you through the process:

Convert GeoJSON to TopoJSON:

Utilize an online tool like Map Shaper to convert your GeoJSON file to TopoJSON.
Enable Shape map visual in Power BI Desktop:

Go to File > Options and Settings > Options > Preview Features and check the Shape map visual option. Restart Power BI Desktop after enabling.
Import TopoJSON and Create the Map:

Add a Shape map visual to your report and import your TopoJSON file by selecting Custom map in the map settings. Then, map your data fields to the visual.

Thank you for your answer. Like you said, I need to convert the GeoJSON file to TopoJSON. Does that mean I need to download it from Github first? For example, in the below screenshot, choose the one with geo.json and download it. Then upload it to Map Shaper. So anything that ends with geo.json should work?
