how to find "dependencies" of calculated columns & measures

Is there a way to look "under the hood" of a PBIX file and see where measures or calculated columns are used throughout the PBIX (and places that will therefore break if you delete them)? When I do development, I often do multiple versions of a measure or column to make sure I'm getting the correct result.  But after a while, I have many extra measures and columns that will eventually slow down the report.

My measures and columns are often calculations with calculations within calculations within..., so it's not as simple as looking at the check boxes on the "Fields" pane to see what is used in a visual.

Anyone encounter a need for this before?

Thanks,

David

Hi @dedelman_clng

If you want to track the dependencies in DAX, you can use VertiPaq Analyzer. It extracts all the DAX expressions for calculated columns, measures and calculated tables. Then you can search in the list... not optimal, there is a DMV provinding dependencies info for calculations, but we didn't incorporate in in a tool to navigate dependencies more easily.
