Hi,
I created a report and produced the outcome that I needed. However, I now need to extract this and send it to a third party outside the organisation.
I tried 'Analyse in Excel' but it just collapsed under the amount of rows. I tried connecting directly to the dataset via Excel, same result - not surprised.
I then tried exporting as csv from Pbi desktop, but obviously I get data sampling kicking in. So I went and created a calculated table, changed the topN to include 500k rows (roughly 140k are needed for this task) and copied it, but upon using that the totals in the csv file don't match the visual. I got the same result exporting from Pbi Service
Pbi Service:
Pbi Service - export underlying data:
Pbi desktop (see total)
Pbi Desktop - Export as csv
What could explain the difference on these ?
I'm simply summing all net sales and grouping by channels.
Unfortunately this is bringing a lot of noise in the company, and people are starting to have second thoughts about Power BI, specially after intensively investing resources on various reports, but now suffering from not being able to extract the data accurately. Some people are resorting at pulling directly from the data base, but I'm afraid the model has some consideration and numbers in the DB will not be representative of the reality (i.e. Pbi uses a dictionary to report on child products and not all SKUs, also maps channels in a different way than what they are originally named).
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi @amitchandak , thanks for your reply.
You are correct, net sales is a measure that sums dollar amount from every SKU inside the Orders which are then pulled in here via channel relationship.
Not sure which data to share, that would help you help me without taking into account the massive model this lies on.
So are you saying that my total net sales reported in cards (and matrix totals) might be wrong ?
@GonzaloB , is net sales using some row context? In such case power bi recalculate the grand total which can be different. we need to force from row level
Please share more details.
If this does not help
Can you share sample data and sample output in table format? Or a sample pbix after removing sensitive data.
