dynamically changing the title on drilldown in pie chart

Hi ,

 I am looking for some help  to dynamically change the title based on drill down level in below pie chart.If I drill up it is at channel level so I need title as "Actual Gross Rev by Channel" ,if i drilldown one level it needs to be retiitled as "Actual Gross Rev by Acct Plan" .But with the below measure I am using every time it is shown as "Actual Gross Rev by Acct Plan".

Dynamic Title = IF(SELECTEDVALUE('Fact_NPI'[Channel]),"Actual Gross Rev by Channel","Actual Gross Rev by Acct Plan")

Can some one please help to fix this?

Thanks..

Hi @smeg

Unfortunately, there’s no way to dynamically change a visual title using DAX based on drill-down level. The engine behind Power BI visuals doesn’t expose that internal hierarchy state when you click the "fork" icon to drill.

However, you can manipulate the display names of the fields inside the hierarchy itself, which are reflected in the default visual title (see screenshot). Rename the fields in your hierarchy to match the titles you want to show at each level, like:

On a side note – a pie chart is not suitable for comparing values across a hierarchy. Our brain doesn’t process curved angles well, especially when comparing slices or drilling between levels. It gets cognitively overwhelming and less informative.

I highly recommend switching to a bar or matrix visual with hierarchy support, which will:

  • Show actual rankings clearly

  • Enable intuitive comparisons

  • Let users easily expand/collapse levels
    All in a way that’s easier for the human brain to process.

Hi @smeg

try this dax mesure as title?

Dynamic Title =
IF(
    HASONEFILTER('Table'[Channel]),
    "Actual Gross Rev by Acct Plan",

Hi smeg,

Please try below DAX expression and let me know if that works or need any changes.

Dynamic Title =
SWITCH(
TRUE(),
ISINSCOPE('Fact_NPI'[Acct Plan]), "Actual Gross Rev by Acct Plan",
ISINSCOPE('Fact_NPI'[Channel]), "Actual Gross Rev by Channel",
"Actual Gross Rev"
)

Please let me know if you have further questions.
