drastic slow down in query update

HI all

Trying to apply a change to an Odata file from CRM. My normal path to the db is usually ends in /data/v8.1. Now its ending in /data/v8.1/$batch and it run dramatically slower than before. Has anyone run into this and why is this happening. Is there an issue with the Azure cloud?
