display data from Google Analytics GA4 to Power BI

Hi :

I have data in Google Analytics GA4.

From GA4 I want to take fields - Total Users, New Users, Conversions and Date. And display it on Power Bi Report.

I have done get data from Google Analytics and got the fields in power bi.

When I display those fields on table visual, there is data discrepencies.

The values of Total users, New users are higher in Power BI than Google Analytics GA4.

Have checked all settings in GA4 and PBI. All looks good.

How to solve this ?

Thanks,

Sejal

Hi @Sejal_shAs a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party tool. I've tried windsor.ai, supemetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the GA4 connector in the data sources list:

GA4-1.png

After that, just grant access to your GA4 account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your GA4 fields:

GA4-2.png

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi @Sejal_sh ,

Thank you for reaching out and for your patience. I understand that you're experiencing discrepancies between the data in Google Analytics GA4 and Power BI. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including data sampling, different time zones, or filters applied in either platform. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot this issue:

  • Sampling: Google Analytics applies data sampling to reports that include a large amount of data to provide quicker results. Power BI, on the other hand, might be pulling in the complete dataset. This could lead to discrepancies if you’re working with a large dataset.
  • API Differences: Google Analytics has two V4 APIs: V4 Reporting and V4 Data. Power BI does not support GA4 Data right now. Currently, only GA4 Reporting is supported, which does not access GA4 properties. You may try to use a third-party connector to connect GA4 to Power BI.
  • Data Processing Differences: Google Analytics and Power BI might process and aggregate data differently, leading to discrepancies.

To resolve this issue, you could consider the following options:

Check your settings: Ensure that the same settings (date range, filters, etc.) are applied in both Google Analytics and Power BI.
Use BigQuery: If possible, export your GA4 data to BigQuery, then use the BigQuery connector in Power BI3.
Third-party connectors: Consider using a third-party connector that supports GA4 Data.

Best Regards
