date is not recognized in dashboard design mode

The date in the query is recognized, but the date is not recognized in the dashboard design mode. I cannot use date hierarchy.

Hi @malong1114 ,

Another important condition that affects the date hierarchy:

  • The column isn't the "many" side of a model relationship

When the relationship is one-to-many, Power BI will respect your decision and remove the "many" side date hierarchy.

When the relationship is one-to-one or one-to-many, Power BI will determine which one is truly "many" side according to the order of selection.

Please check:

  • Enable automatic date and time
  • The table storage mode is Import
  • The column data type is date or date/time
  • The column isn't the "many" side of a model relationship

When the above conditions are met, the date hierarchy will work for you.

time intelligence is checked and I am not using the date as keys. is there any other reason? Thanks for helping.

On the desktop (not in Power Query), is the column type Date?

Theoretically, when the Hierarchy is not recognized, it's either time intelligence or the column have a relationship.

Hey @malong1114 !

Check if Time Intelligence optin is flagged in File > Options and settings > Options.

If is not flagged, then check the box and restart Power BI ( It's recommend not enable the time intelligence option because its create a hidden table for every single date field in your model and this can impact in performance)
