I would like to prevent the calendar from automatically starting up when I put date type data into a slicer and specify a period of time.
The calendar icon may not appear in the date selection field as shown in the image above. In this case, click on the date selection field and the calendar will automatically open.
For my purposes, it is easier to enter the date directly, so I would like to prevent the calendar from opening automatically.
My ideal situation is to have the calendar open when I press the calendar icon as shown in the following image.

Hi @ash_y
The icon is always displayed...

Hi @ash_y
You say "but sometimes the calendar icon does not appear from the beginning." Was this report created using PBI Desktop earlier than the March 2022 version? As from March 2022 version, the default behavior of a date slicer in new reports will be changed according to the following documentation: Date pickers will have a calendar icon by default. With this change, the calendar icon is always displayed unless you change the property in the theme json file.

For older reports without this setting, you may have to edit the property in its Theme file. To learn more, please read Toggle Calendar Icon Visibility In Power BI Date Slicer - Microsoft Fabric Community

Hi @ash_y
The question is not entirely clear, the slicer works in a way that sounds like you have defined. If you click on a calendar icon, the date picker appears, otherwise you can type in the date.
If what you want is to "hide" the icon until you choose to make it visible, you can put a white rectangle over it in one version leave it normal in the other version, and switch between them using bookmarks.
Something like this :
This is too complex to write all the steps so I prepared a video of my screens, you can download it from here :

Thank you for your answer.
I am not a good English speaker, so I am not sure I am explaining some of this correctly.
It is true that usually the date picker appears with a calendar icon, but sometimes the calendar icon does not appear from the beginning. In such cases, it is difficult to enter the date directly, and the date must be selected from the date picker. I would like to change this as direct input is more usable, but for some reason the icon does not appear.

The version of powerbi was newer, but the custom theme had not been updated. Updating it solved the problem. Thank you.
The version of powerBI is May 2024, so it is not old, but the date picker may not appear.
I will also consider checking the theme.

Hi @Ritaf1983
Thank you for your kindness.
But because of security reasons, links cannot be shared. Could you find any article in English that mentions a similar problem?
I think there is the most information in English in the world, but I am not good at reading and cannot find them efficiently.
