could not load data for the visual Excel File or Text File

Hi All,

Today I downloaded latest Power 64 bit version to develop my power bi skills. I installed it on my laptop

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit OS and enough space.

I tried to create simple visual based on local excel file. I am able to connect to excel atleast thats what tool says established connection and all. I can even see tables and contents in Data pane. The moment I try to create any visual based on tables.

I simply get Could not load data for the visual -

I also searched in forum regarding this. However issues were mostly regarding some connectivity with server or other. In few instances it got resolved with system restart.

None of this has worked for me. I am really confused what is holding me back from creating such a simple report.

Can you please share some screenshots if possible. This would help us to recreate your problem. The most obvious reason could be the incorrect data type.

Thanks Bhavesh for your response. I am not using any complex data structures.

This is how it Data View looks on my screen.

This is simple excel file. 

It would really help if I could create any visual table chart anything.

Results

I could not able to recreate your problem. Can you please close the current file and convert your excel ranges to the table and try reconnect. See if it can resolve your issue. It is so strange and I have never encountered problem like this before.

Even after making range to table I get same error. Same behavior even with similar text file.

Please "Enable tracing" to check more detail error message.

And I haven't encountered this issue when testing with Power BI Desktop Jan 9th release (version 2.42.4611.482). Please update your Power BI Desktop into latest version and try again.
