cannot open .pbix file after linking it to Power BI service dataset

I have published a dataset from an existing .pbix file to my Power BI service ant to use this same dataset amongst other pbix files as suggested from this article.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-report-lifecycle-datasets

I have followed the steps exactly as detailed; in the new file I managed to link to the dataset via Get Data and saved the file down.

Now when I try to open the file I get multiple prompts/errors- see below

1. prompts me for my email address which I enter and then prompts for password as expected

1.1.

2. doesn't recognise my account which I then click on X as I do not need to Sign up

2.2.

3. gives this error

3.3.

4. further error

4.4.

5. final error

5.5.

I then thought it might be something to do with permissions or credentials linked to our data model, but it can't be as I get the same problem when I tested this with another pbix file which just has a calendar table.

The only work around  so far is to first open Power BI Desktop and then open the file from there.

Although this will do for now it's quite annoying that I cannot open the file directly.

Has anyone experienced the same problem as I'm getting? - FYI this was done on the latest version of PowerBI

Any information will be grateful.

Hi Lyn,

my account is the owning user of the dataset and the all the reports which use that dataset. Still no luck.

Thanks,

Christian
