best practice for displaying blobs in power bi

Hi,

We have an oracle database where we get supplid signatures and these stored as blobs in database.

When we import these to power bi can see these show as binary datatype.

If we change the datatype of the signature to text within power bi and then add custom column as per below with the customer column as an image url we can see the signatures as expected
"data:image/<image_format>;base64,"&table[SIGNATURE]

I have a couple of questions.

1) Is there a better/different way to do this rathe than having to create extra custom column.

Ideally power bi coudl read the blob data directly from database.

2) When no signature provided rathe than display blank image, is it possble to say "Not provided"

Thanks
