architecting a large power bi system

Hello,

If I want to use Datasets in multiple Reports is it feasible to store the datasets in a single workspace and then have the reports reference the datasets?

Is the row level security defined at the Dataset level?

Can a power bi report reference multiple dataset?  Is this a good design?

Thanks,

Hello @mikebi ,

yes you can publish many datasets into a workspace and you could also get data from a published dataset.

check it out https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-report-lifecycle-datasets

regarding the row level security, yes it's defind on the dataset level.

yes, you can get data in a power bi report from multiple design, and yes you could do it that way, it depends on where your data is stored.

I would advise you to just get the data you need for your reports, so eleminate columns that are not needed.

also build your data model as a star schema data model for better performance.

Hello,

Why when I try to create a connection to the second dataset the message "A Direct Query connection is required" appears and it then asks me to build a Local Model?
