Working with Date formats outside your region

Our company is global and my projects come in from a variety of regions.  Up until this point I've been pretty lucky in that the date formats i've been working with him have little endian (DD/MM/YYYY), which matches my computer's regional settings.  I've just started on a newer project, where my data source uses middle endian dates (MM/DD/YYYY).

Is there a way that i can specify the date format of data within Power Query rather than having it always use my regional date format?  My current solution has been to treat the date as text and parse it into multiple columns, then re-combine myself.  It feels clunkier than it needs to be.

You can transform your text dates to real dates, using a culture code (or Locale).

The pictures apply to numbers, but you can apply this similarly to dates.
