Work-arounds for Using a PBI Dataset as an Import Mode Storage

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any creative ideas on how to somehow connect to a Power BI dataset and use Import Mode as storage type so we can still use the Insights feature (specificaly the Analyze feature) of Power BI services.

I am using a published Power BI dataset that is a DirectQuery to a HANA database which I am no allowed to have access to (the HANA database). My report (has many other data source, all Import mode) does take advantage of the Analyze feature to allow users to quickly view reason for Increase/Decrease, but as soon as I add this other data source from a PBI dataset, all Analyze features are no longer available.

Regards,

Kevin

  • sd_kevin , You should create a power bi dataset from Hana in Import mode. Using the you can create live connection to create visuals.

Unfortunately I do not have access to the underlining HANA views.
