I have PBI Desktop on Windows 10. I want to create a shortcut to PBI in a folder I have called "Power BI Stuff".
1. I have pinned PBI to the taskbar but when I right click on it I cannot find the complete path to the EXE file.
2. I did a search for power*.exe in Program files and Program files (x86) and it doesn't show up there.
3. When I search the Start menu PBI comes up, I started it, and that's how I pinned it to the task bar. But in the start menu search results, when I right click the PBI icon, there are no Properties to show me the full path to the EXE file.
Any ideas how I can make a shortcut in a folder to PBI?
An easy way is to download the latest version. On installation, there is a point when you can check the option to create a shortcut (which in my case is placed in the desktop screen). You can then simply move ths shortcut to whatever folder you wish

Hi, if it's still interesting for you: I've just found two files named "PBIDesktopStore.exe"; both start the app when double klicked. One is in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps, the second one level deeper in ...\Microsoft.MicrosoftPowerBIDesktop_8wekyb3d8bbwe. In both cases I see my "recently used files", so it seems to be the correct .exe...

@croberts21 , If you have installed it as app, you might not found in the Program file
check for the windows app folder

Thank you. I did look in "Program files" and "Program Files (x86)" and their subfolders, I also searched the whole C: drive for "powerbi.exe" and "pbi.exe" and could not find the .exe file.
We do have Office 365 so I'm not sure if it's on my C: drive or not.
I had the same issue. I found the files in
C:\Users\********\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App
Hope that helps. As others posted, it seems to be installed as an App from the MS Store, not as a software pkg in the usual way.
Ok I used Everything to search my whole C: drive and there is no pbi.exe or powerbi.exe or anything like it.
