When is a model too big for powerbi?

I have a model in powerbi, it now has 30+ tables & will have 20+ reports. It works but feels clunky.
Ive been considering moving the model to tabular and building indiviual sets of reports for each group who requires them. this will allow better control over who sees what report, and also means there wont be so many reports all in one place.

from experience, what do you guys consider the threshold for moving a model from powerbi to tabular?

Hi @wilson_smyth ,

Based on my experience, when a model is too big for PowerBI, I will consider reducing the model and improve the performance. I will not import all data into PowerBI and create views in the data source, this will improve the performance.

Best Regards,

Teige
