When I switch years using slicers the information doesn't update with the new year

Hello everyone!

I have two tables: one with date and sales_id_year which works as a master table, and another table that has all the information (this is mock data; in my real problem I have more than 10 tables in the semantic model). The sales_id_year value differs depending on the year selected in date (it's a single date picker as this is a requirement, so the mock report has this feature enabled).

If I pick a date from 2025 and a sales_id_year from 2025, it correctly shows information. If I go to a date from 2024 without deselecting thesales_id_year from 2025, it shows blanks, which is good and it's the desired behavior. However, if I was in 2024 and picked a sales_id_year from 2024, and then I select a date from 2025, it shows the 2024 information in the 2025 date. How can I ensure that it shows blanks in this scenario, just like in the other scenario?

Thanks,

Hi @julsr

Slicers don't automatically deselect in response to the filters from other slicers. It remembers your prior selection until you have unselected it. In your case example 2024 - TestID will disappear only when you select 2025.

Thanks for your reply!

If that's the case, when 2025 is selected for both sales_id_year and date, why does it show blank values for everything when I pick a 2024 date without modifying the sales_id_year? That's the scenario I commented on in my first post:

"If I pick a date from 2025 and a sales_id_year from 2025, it correctly shows information. "

Hey @julsr,

Well, the slicers work as expected, it seems you just set the end date and not the start date on your 'date' slicer. In the screen shot you provided it shows period 15th Dec 2024 - 1st Jan 2025 so the outcome includes results from 2024 too. Perhaps you should change you slicer type to Between and set it as shown below:

Thanks for your reply. I'm using the date as a single date picker (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/power-bi-single-date-picker-without-dax-torsten-wanka/)  which requires to be "Before" instead "Between".  That's why I can't change the slicer
