Hi Support and Community,
What makes for a better unique key between fact and dimension tables as far as speed and compression go?
The UID or the ACCOUNT Number shown below in my chart of accounts?
The UID is a longer alphanumeric field and the account number is a fair bit smaller.. Both are text fields in the model.
Which column should i index?
Hi. I don't think you will found a significant difference. The short one may go faster. The best performance is with int values, but again I don't think you will notice so much difference in this case.
Regards,
Happy to help!
@ibarrau thanks for your reply. Yes my understanding is text characters are slower than number/integer values. The account number however cant be resovled as a number due to the hyphen so it's formatted as text column like the uid.
