Various data in the table - Issue counting them while filters applied on visual

I have this table that i want to use it in either table of matrix visual but have some issues counting it. For example when i move "field name" and "value" to the table visual I use the filter for show only Fruit Type. This works well until I want to limit only to top 3. As soon as i do that it seems that filter on Fruit Type doesnt work any more and I see all the other choice from the value columns.   I tried using th ematrix visual which sorts of fix this issue but i need my visual to have total clear background so that canvas image can be seen. Alternativly I can create multiple tables in my model and but that seems like a overkill to create multiple tables and it might slow down my report. Any sugestions?

Quite the opposite.  A well designed data model in Star Schema is both faster and more economical than a denormalized flat table.

You mean to create one table for each of these and filtered it based of car and fruit type?

Create dimension tables for ID, Date and Field Type. Wire them into your data model. Keep the value column in the fact table.

  • Not sure i understand. How would fact table which  would contain all values from "values" column connect to dimension table?

    Hi stribor45 ,

    Thanks for lbendlin's reply!

And stribor45 , Could you describe more specifically how you set up your filter? Your problem did not occur in my test environment. Please check my test screenshot (I assume that your Top3 refers to the Top3 of the Count of Value):

If you have set it up this way but still have problems, please provide the complete data structure (how many tables does the visual object involve, what is the relationship between the tables, what is the basis for the Top 3 sorting, etc.)

    Best Regards,
