Variable Library

Hi all

I have a number of data tables that are feeding that I am adding some Calculated columns to. In order to make the DAX in each column more readable /work, I am using the VAR function. It all works fine but, I am finding myself writing the same VAR statements over and over again.

Is there a way to write the VAR statment once and use it in multiple calculated columns, without having to write it out each time?

Many thanks

Hi @JamesBockett,

AFAIK, the VAR function does not support creating global variables or being invoked by external expression.
For your requirement, I'd like to suggest you create some measure expression with fixed calculation results then you can use them as variables and nested with other formulas.

Hi @JamesBockett ,

Don't think there is a possibility in Power BI to create Global Variables.
