Using table of measures in slicer to dynamically select visualization

Hello,

i am facing issue with using measures as a slicer option.

Te problem is very simple. I have numerical data for each month of the year againt a list of projects my team is working on.

You can imagine it to be Matrix of 10 projects in rows and Months of year in  columns with values being numerical enteries against each month and each project.

I created a table of 12 measures(aggregate of values in Month column)  for each of the month.

Then another measure is created to use Switch statement to select data based on user selection.

Using these i am trying to create a visulization of stacked column for each project. WIth column value being numerical entry against the selected month from the slicer.

so for all 10 projects if user selection is January the visualization should display numerical data for all projects for month of January. So far so good. I am able to make it work till this step.

However when i try to make multiple selections in the slicer( January + February + March ) data, the visualizaiton goes blank.

Any help / resource on this will be very helpful please.

@Vikas_J Hey Vikas,
you can use field parameter funcationality of power bi to get it done. It will something like this...

Step 1: Create a field parameter with your choice of measure

Step 2: Drag that new parameter to slicer and as well as table to get desire output.

Hello Harish,

Thanks for the methodology. However i tried another way . Unpivoted all the columns in single column and worked with that. i was able to get the desired results.

Thanks for your help.!

Thankyou Audrey. However i am little new to Power Bi.

I am not able to follow you here. can you please elaborate or direct me to some similar example/ short video for such a task.

I am not sure what you mean "instead of separate measures, can you make one measure" one measure of what?

Thankyou for helping.

Hello! Instead of having a separate measure for each month, can you make one measure and put that in the values well of your matrix, months in the columns, and your projects in the rows. Then, when you select three months you will see the individual amounts for each month as well as the total of them.
