I created a button that, when clicked, sends you to a different report page. This works fine in the report view but not in the dashboard view. Is there a way to get navigation buttons to work in the report view?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Buttons don't work in the dashboard. The Dashboard feature is meant to be a quick display of data, and honestly I avoid it. I only use the Dashboard feature for Power BI alerts that I can pass to Power Automate and take action.
I build "Dashboard pages" in my reports that can look like a dashboard, but have the full functionality of all reporting tools.

MCSA: BI ReportingI have the same issue, except navigating between bookmarks on the same page - showing or hiding visualizations depnding on the selection. No page navigation.
@edhans is this also not supported? Functionally, this is the same as choosing an item from a slicer but it looks better and is easier. Slicers work on live pages pinned to dashboards, which seems counterintuitive that dashboards are meant to be a quick view of the data. I get it for page navigation, and I also agree about dashbaords. The customer likes using them, so this is what we do.
It doesn't appear so.
I suspect your customer likes dashboards because it is a one stop shop for pages from various reports. I suggest you show them what a Power BI App is for a workspace where you can create an app that they can arrange the reports and pages order, as well as hiding/showing pages you want. Then, the full functionality of the reports exist. I really discourage the use of the "Dashbaord" feature for all but two scenarios:

MCSA: BI Reporting@cmckinney - I think you have your answer - doesn't work. If you could mark my original response as the answer so others looking for the same thing know that is solved. If you add it to Ideas feel free to post that link back here. I'd vote for it! 👍

MCSA: BI ReportingHi @cmckinney ,
Your demand is a good idea, while it is unsupported to get navigation button for dashboard in Power BI currently. You can post your new idea in Idea Forum , add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.

Hi @cmckinney
Dashboards are different from report.
A dashboard can contain pinned charts from different report. It is not logical/possible to have the same functionality on dashboard.
