Use table to create a Join

Hi,

I have a table of vehicle regististrations ie

py07 hyu

hd2 8ty

etc

Now in my nominal table I have notes  column with

Service  py07 hyu bainbrudge

py07 hyu Repair 

Basically the registration could be anywhere in the column but i need to pull it out to create another column with the registration in or create a join..

Any help appreciated.
