Updating data source of multiple reports that uses live connection

Hi all,

Hope you are well.

I have a workspace called Dev in which I have a shared dataset and almost 50 reports are connected to this dataset using live connection. Similarly, I have a workspace called Prod in which I have the same dataset and all the reports.

All the developments are done to the Dev reports and then those reports are promoted to Prod workspace after repointing their datasource to Prod dataset.

The procedure I follow to promote the reprot is as follows:

1. Open each report in PBI Desktop.

2. Update the datasource of each report and point them to Prod dataset.

3. Save each report in the Prod folder.

4. Publish each report to Prod workspace on Power BI Service.

As you can see that I need to perform multiple manual steps for each report and there is a large number of reports so this procedure has became very exhausting. Now, I am looking for a more automated solution for this either a power shell script or a third-party tool. Would you please help me with this.

Thank you!
