What's going on here???
I have a bunch of different PowerBI reports, all of which pull data from a SQL Server in Import Mode, all of which use a custom SQL query that I built in SSMS and pasted into my Power Query editor window.
Frequently - not every time, but frequently - when I make a change to the SQL query and click "OK", the query window does - nothing. The OK button spins, and spins, and spins, while the rest of the app does - nothing. No feedback about what it's trying to do. No obvious reason for it to not instantly return. Making a simple change to a SQL query - adding a field, or changing a date range in a WHERE clause - should not cause an extended delay here. We do these things every day, as a normal part of our job. And when we are working on a problem, having to suddenly stop and wait - sometimes up to 30 MINUTES - for what should be an extremely basic update, well, it's beyond frustrating.
So what is going on here?
Task Manager shows several instances of the "Microsoft Mashup Evaluation Container" as the only things using any amount of CPU, and it's pretty minimal. Nothing that would be consistent with an extremely long delay. And the complete lack of any communication back to me, the cogitating human, about what the heck it's trying to go off and do, is ridiculous. By the time it does finally return, I've long since forgotten why I was here in the first place.
No other BI tool that I've ever used does this.
What's going on here???
Same. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's lightning fast - other times it takes forever or doesn't happen at all. Seems recent - the fact that you just posted this Monday makes me think so.....
