Hi All, I recieve an excel report with various KPIs are rows and the months as columns (see below for illustration) . I currently have a gauge dial to report on the current month vs goal but this requires manual input (As in I have to deselect the previous month and select the current month each time I recieve the report). Is there a way for power bi to automatically recognize the current month and update my visualization when new data is refreshed?
Name | Jan 2020 | Feb 2020 | March 2020 | Goal |
KPI 1 | ||||
KPI 2 | ||||
| KPI 3 |
Thank you all for your advice!

Hi, @Anonymous
Based on your description, I created data to reproduce your scenario.
Table:
You may create two calculated columns as below.
Month-Year = VALUE(FORMAT('Table'[Date],"yyyymm"))
Flag =
var _currentmonthyear =
IF(
MONTH(TODAY())<10,
VALUE(YEAR(TODAY())&"0"&MONTH(TODAY())),
VALUE(YEAR(TODAY())&MONTH(TODAY()))
)
return
IF(
'Table'[Month-Year]=_currentmonthyear,
1,
0
)
Then you need to set visual level filter as 'Flag' = 1 to display the result.
Best Regards
Allan

You can use a Relative Time filter (or slicer). Please see this post.

If this works for you, please mark it as solution. Kudos are appreciated too. Please let me know if not.
