Hello, I am receiving a lot of help from PowerBI Community in Korea.
Thank you very much for your hard work.
I have one question. Can you help me?
Due to the difference in Data Format, the existing Visualization Graph does not work properly.
My current situation is as follows.
- In the same case, several WorkPlaces were separated by ,(Comma), so we separated them by using Split function.
- Actually hours were processed in duplicate, so I wanted to make the actual hours 0 for the other Row except for one. Therefore, the following functions were created in the MPC Actual Hours Column to avoid duplication.
- The data types for each column are as follows.
Case Number = Text
Actual Hours = Whole Number
WorkPlace = Whole Number
This is where the problem occurs.
1. When Actual Hours is Whole Number, an error occurs in WorkPlace Actual Hours.
"Expressions that yield variant data-type cannot be used to define calculated columns."
2. When I changed the data of Actual Hours to Text, the error disappears and the WorkPlace Actual Data is output. However, the Visualization graphs do not work as the existing Actual Hours type changes to Text.
(Error that Sum of Text Type cannot be visualized)
3. CaseNumber contains characters and cannot be converted to numbers.
**Requirements**
1. While WorkPlace Actual Hours is output, I want to maintain visualization using Actual Hours.
Can't WorkPlace Actual Hours be printed normally while maintaining the Whole Number Type of Actual Hours?

Hi @DataAnalysis ,
Keep the [Actual Hours] to be whole number.
The values on both sides of the equal sign need to be of the same type.
Since the [Actual Hours] is whole number, please modify = "0"(text) to = 0(whole number).
Best Regards,
Jay
