Hi,
I am new to Power BI and i need to connect to an old MySQL database to produce reports.
Here is the error
Unable to connect
We encountered an error while trying to connect.
Details: "MySQL: Authentication with old password no longer supported; use 4.1 style passwords."
I don't know how to proceed.
Should I change the MySQL database installation ? Is this advisable?
Should I find a workaround to use a different MySQL Connector?
I tried to uninstall every MySQL related application in my computer and the error persists.
I appreciate any help.

Hi @pbadion,
I think the issue is more related to mysql, you can refer to below link to modify your password:
Authentication with old password no longer supported, use 4.1 style passwords.

I got it working by setting the global variable of MySQL secure_auth to ON.
I ran this command using the root login in MySQL.
set global secure_auth = ON;
Thanks for the help.
