Unable to bring in Custom Columns from Microsoft Project for Web to Power BI for reporting

For a reporting project I want to be able to bring in data from Microsoft Project for Web to Power BI. I used the Template to bring in the data but it does not bring in Custom columns from project for web to power BI. I was also unable to create a column in Dataverse to try and bring it into project for web so I can access it in power BI. Please help me find out how I could bring the custom columns into Power BI.

Hi @LalithManoj ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

To access and utilize custom columns from Project for the Web in Power BI, follow these steps:

Add Custom Columns in the Project Power App:

Use the Power Apps portal to add custom columns to the relevant tables in Dataverse.

Ensure that these columns are added to the appropriate forms to make them accessible.

Detailed guidance is available here: Add a custom column to the Project Power App.(Microsoft Learn)

Connect Power BI to Dataverse:

In Power BI Desktop, use the Dataverse connector to establish a connection to your environment.

This allows you to access tables, including those with custom columns.

Refer to: Create a Power BI report using data from Dataverse.(Microsoft Learn)

Customize the PMO Accelerator :

If you're using the Project Management Office (PMO) Accelerator, you can customize it to include your custom columns.

This involves creating a managed solution that layers over the PMO Accelerator.

Learn more: Customize the Project Management Office Accelerator.(Microsoft Learn)

Implementing the above steps should resolve the issue of importing custom columns into Power BI with a high degree of success.

Hi @LalithManoj ,

You might look into the CData connector for MS Project:
