Unable to Create Date Hierarchy

I have many date columns in my fact table that have inactive relationships with my Calendar. Once upon a time they all had Date Hierarchies but I got rid of them as I was worried about performance an...

    So I've just managed to fix it and possibly anyone else who has gone round in circle trying all the obvious things.

    I went into Query Editor and duplicated my date column, once that was loaded into my data model it was a case of right-clicking and creating a date hierarchy which it did with no problems. I deleted the old one and renamed the new one to the what the old one was called so all my measures continue to work.
