Once upon a time they all had Date Hierarchies but I got rid of them as I was worried about performance and cost to the huge Data Model that I have, unfortunately, now I want to reintroduce one of them but no matter what I try it doesn't work. (I can't remember exactly how I removed the hierarchies)!
One such date field is called the application validation date column, when I right click in Model viewer to create a Date hierarchy nothing happens, all I see is this:

So I've just managed to fix it and possibly anyone else who has gone round in circle trying all the obvious things.
I went into Query Editor and duplicated my date column, once that was loaded into my data model it was a case of right-clicking and creating a date hierarchy which it did with no problems. I deleted the old one and renamed the new one to the what the old one was called so all my measures continue to work.
