Trend Data for KPI Visualization

Hi all,

I have a report that updates daily and I am trying to set up a KPI Visualization to track the results of a measure over time.  As the data updates completely each day, I do not have a 'date stamp'.  Can I create a new table within the Power BI model that will document the date and value of a specific calculated measure each time the data is refreshed?  I can manually add the metric goal via a calculated column to enable use of the KPI visualization.  I understand I need 3 colums of data for this vsualization:

  • Indicator - this would be the result of the calculated measure, and it changes every refresh [daily]
  • Trend axis - time; I need a date stamp for each 'Indicator' result at time of refresh
  • Target measure - a fixed value I am comparing the 'Indicator' against to see how close I am to my goal.  Value can be added via a calculated column.

Is it possible to create such a table that updates automatically in Power BI Desktop? if not, are there other methods that would do the same thing?

Thanks!
