Not happy they have finally enabled this feature but kept it behind the fabric paywall. Need this opened up to those companies with in house SQL servers!

Hi @RowanS ,
Totally get where you're coming from. Write-back to on-prem SQL is a big deal for orgs that rely on internal infrastructure, and locking it behind Fabric capacity definitely limits adoption for hybrid setups.
One possible workaround (depending on your use case) is to expose your on-prem SQL via a secure gateway and use Power Automate or Logic Apps to handle the write-back logic externally — not ideal, but it can bridge the gap until native support is more flexible.
Would be great if Microsoft considered enabling this for Pro or PPU tiers too, especially for dev/test scenarios.
If my response resolved your query, kindly mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Additionally, I would be grateful for a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.

Hi @RowanS,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.
I wanted to check if you had a chance to review the helpful information shared by @burakkaragoz, regarding the write-back workaround for on-prem SQL. It offers a practical alternative using a secure gateway and Power Automate or Logic Apps.

I already have a powerapps and power automate solution in place as a workaround for write back, so this is very dissappointing that could so easily be available to all. Come on Microsoft, stop railroading everyone towards Fabric.
