Translate loan overview from Excel to PowerBi

Hi all.

I am rather new to PowerBi, so I don't have a full grasp on everything yet 🙂 

However I have made a setup to visualize a loan month-to-month in Excel, however, I would like to have something similar in PowerBi. So how can this be achieved?

1. How do I need to structure the data in Excel to be able to do this in PowerBi?

2. How do I visualize this in PowerBi after? (I probably will find out if part 1 is correct).

The red-colored rows from the left are loans, and the green-colored rows are cash capital, so these should somehow be calculated against each other. I want the option to visualize each loan separately + show a total and calculate the total against the capital accounts. 

In the end I would add previous years into this mix.

Hi @tormi ,

According to your description, I made a simple sample and here is my solution.

You can transpose columns like the screenshot below.

About how to tranpose your table, please refer to the following document.

Transpose (rotate) data from rows to columns or vice versa (microsoft.com)

And then you can use Power BI Desktop to connect the excel.

If the table is right, click "load", and if the name of column is wrong, please click "transform data" to use "use first row as headers" in Power Query.

Then you can put your columns into a table in orders.

And you can put your columns into a line and clustered column chart in orders.
