In the latest update (2.146.1133.0 64-bit (August 2025)) there has been changes to the option bar in the 'Transform Data'/Power Query screen, particularly in the Home bar
Couple of things ive noticed - 'Advanced Editor' has moved to View
However 'Refresh Preview' has disappeared, and I cant find any other ways to refresh the data
Does any one know of any other option to manually refresh the previewed data, before 'Close & Apply'
In my circumstance, im importing data from a spreadsheet and ive changed the worksheet name and i need to refresh the Navigation step - otherwise the step errors as PBI hasnt loaded in the new worksheet list.

Hello @IronNige
You may try switching back to Legacy Theme.
Temporarily revert to the legacy theme may bring back the Refresh Preview button. I saw this on Reddit Pbi Community yesterday.

Hope this works:)
Only legacy appearance return it back. I think this is a fatal glitch for Power BI users.
Hi @IronNige ,
I replicate your error in the August Version and this is related with the Dark mode sometimes get's some glitches.
My suggestion go to ligth mode and check if you still get the same error, you should not at least accordingly to my test. Be sure to close the Power Query before changing to Light mode otherwise the error will still occur and you need to close and reopen the power query.
Then publish this on the Issue part of the forum so that the Development team can take a look into it. They are preety quick at getting around to this type of questions.
Concerning the Advance Editor that one has always been in the View Tab.

Check out my blog: Power BI em PortuguêsThanks @MFelix - yup that seems to be it (MasonMA just beat you 😄 )
Re: Advance Editor - I have an old Desktop version and its deffo on Home there
and im 99% sure it was there in very recent builds too as my desktop build auto updates (in fact its removal was also referenced in the reddit post above)
I think it was in both places (plus the table context menu) - so maybe 'Moved' was slightly incorrect in my OP 🙂 - but was always convenient for me to use it from Home
thanks again
Hi @IronNige ,

Check out my blog: Power BI em PortuguêsHi @IronNige ,
You are correct that there is also the advance editor on the home tab, sorry for my confusing message what I meant was that it was always in the View also.
By the way what you are missing is not the refresh button but is the Query panel that includes Refresh, Properties, Advance Editor and Manager
Once again apologies for the miss understandement on my part.

Check out my blog: Power BI em PortuguêsThanks @MasonMA - That got it!
Just for info for anyone else - 'Light' theme doesnt work.
- Switch to 'Legacy' (in File - 'Options & Settings' - 'Options' - 'Global : Report Settings')
- I also needed to close down Transform Data (Use the X button and Dont apply if youre still making changes)
- then reopen 'Transform Data' and 'Refresh' reappeared
Weird bug!
