I have an issue which has popped up on a report since updating to the latest version of Power BI Desktop (was previously using July 2021 version and didn't have this issue).
When I put in a slicer for the transaction date and choose the "Between" option, the dates default to the earliest transaction date and the most recent transaction date (today). However, as soon as I change the upper date limit to a date before today's date, I can't change it back to today's date (it is greyed out). The most recent date I can change it back to is yesterday's date.
Default:
Once changed to an earlier date can no longer choose the 5th (today):
I can however get today's date back by moving the slider to include today's date.
When I change the slicer to display in a dropdown, today's date displays without issue no matter what date was previously chosen.
I have tested this in a brand new report and notice the same issue.
Is this a bug in the slicer or is there a reason for this that I haven't understood?
Any 3rd party visuals that may work in the same way? (The calendar function is important as we use it as a mobile app and that is the easiest way for users to choose date range)

I have the same issue and I don't have dates after today's date, so it has to be something else. List or dropdown shows today's date, it's just the between slicer that doesn't show today's date. You can manually write today's date in the boxes, but you can't select the date in the calendar.
@alwe , do your table has a date after the today's date? That can be reason. The same was pointed by some other user, so please check any issues were reported here - https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues
