TL:DR - hypoerlinks aren't working, one is for an email template which I could use advice on rebuilding as I don't believe that kind of link is supported.
I have 3 hyperlinks in my report I'm building and none of them work. I have ctrl-clicked them, and published the report to see if they would work outside power BI desktop, they do not. The third I may have to do a completely different approach since it is supposed to bring up and email template, but the other two are just https links.
Here are the buttons:
and here are the links:
UW Portal: https://uwport.uwm.com/
Production Summary: https://reports.unitedshore.com/USFSreports/report/Operations%20Analytics/Underwriting/UnderwritingP...
Corrections (This one I'm not suprised isn't working, but don't know how else to set it up): \\dfs.shoremortgage.com\ns1\Department_Data\Underwriting\Please dont delete - Email Template.msg
Is it because I need to alter security setting somewhere for UWM access? I haven't found it in the options but that doesn't mean much.
Please let me know what other information you may need to assist. I cannot share the file, or provide access to these sites due to security concerns and privacy laws.
Well, I've found work arounds but haven't received any clues as to why the buttons wouldn't work. For the first two both assigning the action to a shape and making a hyperlink worked, for the email only the hyperlink in a textmox would work. Buttons worked for navigation used elsewhere in the dashboard, but not when I assign an action to them, can't figure out why.
Hi @LYorkToenniges ,
What do you mean by not working? In PBI Desktop clicking the button it jumps to the web page normally, in PBI Service clicking the button does not respond or jumps to the wrong web page? If it's unresponsive, is it only for a specific link? You can try clearing your browser cache and try again.

Hi @LYorkToenniges ,
Are you able to access the hyperlinks properly in the privacy mode of your browser?
Check if your url meets the following requirements. If it meets them, I don't think the problem is with Power BI, it should be due to the link being blocked by a firewall or being in an environment such as an intranet. You can try storing the email template on Onedrive or Sharepoint and create a share link and it should work fine.

I discovered the link would work if I assigned them to anything other than a button. For some reason the buttons weren't working, but when I assigned the action to a shape it worked. Now the only link I don't have working is the mailto: link. I've checked default programs, and settings in my browser, no pop-up blocking or anything like that is on.
Still don't know why the buttons didn't work, only shapes and hyperlinks in textboxes.
Hi @LYorkToenniges ,
The button works fine through my testing.
I found a similar post that I think you can refer to for that solution.

I have now tested it with just www.google.com and they still do not work. I do not have popups blocked, I don't see anything in the options that has to do with hyperlinks that may be turned off, and it doesn't work with a file path either (file://<file path>.xxx). I tried to contact support, but it says I need administrator access to do so? Our in house IT are great, but not Power BI specialists so I don't think they could help with this. Please tell me someone has a check list for problem solving dead hyperlinks or any advice at all.
@LYorkToenniges Not able to reproduce this. Hyperlinks work for me in terms of opening them ( I tested the first one ). This is on a tenant with pretty much default settings and I am not aware of a tenant setting that allows you to disable this.
I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by tenet. Could you clarify please?
I wanted to add, I'm not getting an error code or anything either, the links are just seemingly dead.
@LYorkToenniges Oh, I agree that the links are dead. Perhaps they are internal links where you need to be connected to a corporate network or VPN?
They are internal links, but I am currently on the VPN, and it will only be viewed on the network (on premises). Is this a limitation of Power BI? Do they have to be open websites only? I know there is a limitation on the type of website, but the list just says it needs to start with http/https (as well as others I'm not familiar with). Is it possible there is am options setting I'm missing that I can enter credentials on? I'm really struggling to find things that help problem solve getting hyperlinks to work. Plenty that show how to make them in a lot of cools ways, I've learned a lot, but they just confirm the process I used to create the links in the first place. These are essential for this report so any assistance is hugely appreciated. I'm running out of ideas on what I could search to find answers.
