There is a way to filter the whole report using a visual?

Hi guys!

I know that is possible to filter the report using the report level, but there is a way to use the "Filter Visual" to filter all my  report? I'd like to put a date filter in the first page and apply it on whole report.

Thanks!

No, slicer selections only affect the page that the slicer is on.

@michaeldurieuxthere are report level filters but the original poster said they didn't want to use those. I assume since you're asking for a workaround that you don't want to use them either. That's all there is. So if you don't want to use report level filters, there is no other way to filter a whole report.

Its possible with a workaround 🙂

Copy the visual to all your pages. Say yes to Sync the slicer and then under View > Selection > select to "Hide this visual" on all the pages you do not want the slicer to show. The slicer will still filter but not be seen or selectet.

I like your question, "can a filter be applied to an entire report using a visual as a filter?" Create a landing page and Filter Business Name and date criteria to filter the other report pages.

IS this requirement solved?

If you want a report level filter, drag the field you want to filter onto the Report Level Filters box. The visual level filter is just what it says: it filters a single visual only.

As a said, I know how the Report Level works. But as example: I'd like to use the Timeline Custom Visual in my first page, to let the report user set better his period, It could be more friendly and useful than the report level filter way. If there isn't a way to, ok.

Hi @KHorseman

Has this issue continue yet? On the new version Power B.I. Desktop Can I apply Visual Filter (ex. Drill Drown ) on whole report?

I was currently trying to apply the selected date on the first page on the whole report.

Assuming your answers, it is not possible 🙂

In consequence, do you know if it exists a solution to apply a selected date on the whole report (on all pages) instead of to select the date on each page (with another visual or tips) ?

@michaeldurieuxI'm not sure how your question is any different from what has been asked already. Aside from the Report Level Filter box, there is no way to affect the whole report. I don't know what else you're looking for.

To know if it exists a workaround or another solution other than the slicer Smiley Happy
