The Power BI Desktop report does not detect new files in the SharePoint Online folder when updating

Hello, when updating data, the Power BI Desktop report does not detect new files in the SharePoint Online folder. Even after 24 hours from adding a file to the SharePoint Online folder and refreshing the Power BI Desktop report, the new files are not displayed. The files are present on the local disk and in the SharePoint folder, but the Power BI Desktop report does not show them, only the old files are visible, the new ones are not. I don't understand what the problem might be. This issue has only recently appeared. What could be the reason for this? Thank you in advance to everyone who can provide assistance.

Hi @длпн ,

Please try below steps:

1. Check the Data Source Settings: Ensure that the connection to the SharePoint folder is correctly configured. In Power BI Desktop, go to File > Options and settings > Data source settings. Check if the SharePoint folder's URL is correctly listed and that there are no credential issues.

2. Refresh the Data Model: If you're using Power Query to import data from the SharePoint folder, make sure to refresh the queries. Go to the Home tab in Power BI Desktop, and select Transform data. In the Power Query Editor, ensure your query is correctly set up to import all files from the folder, not just a static list of files. Then, close and apply the changes, and refresh your report.

3. Check for SharePoint Online Limitations: Ensure that the files added to SharePoint Online do not exceed the size limit for Power BI files (1 GB) and that you have the necessary permissions to view the files. Also, verify that the files are not in formats that Power BI does not support.

Thank you for the response, but the problem persists. The issue is that when I specify a local path to the folder as the data source (Source = Folder.Files("D:\OneDrive\JSON")), the JSON files are visible and can be processed. However, when I connect to a SharePoint folder, the same folder in the cloud has no files (Source = SharePoint.Files("https://my.sharepoint.com/personal/br_onmicrosoft_com/", [ApiVersion = 15]))

I have PBI from October 2024 on Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.

I'm having the same problem, followed the steps above, and even signed out of PBI and signed back in, then tried to connect to the new Sharepoint spreadsheet. PBI does not see the new spreadsheet.

Hi @длпн ,

Please try to clear the data source permission in Power BI Desktop data source settings, then try to reconnect SharePoint Online Folder again.

Hello, I followed your instructions, cleared global permissions, and reconnected, but the issue was not resolved. Screenshots show that the file is present in the folder; when connected locally, it is visible, but when connected online, it is not visible

I had been searching for old posts about this as I ran into this issue. I tried the above steps but they did not resolve it.

However, I found that opening each new file in the browser version of SharePoint made the files show up after a refresh. So I'm not sure if there was an issue with the 'Date accessed' field even though that still comes through as null.
