Synchronizing Date Range Slicer with MTD and YTD Tile Slicers in Power BI

Context: I'm working on a Power BI project for my company and have encountered an issue that I can't seem to solve.

Experience Level: Beginner

Problem: I have a Power BI report with visuals controlled by three slicers:

  1. A primary date range slicer that allows users to select a start and end date to filter the data displayed in the visual.

  2. A "Month-to-Date" (MTD) slicer implemented using a calculated column that marks each row with a 1 if the date falls between the first day of the current month and today, and 0 otherwise.

  3. A "Year-to-Date" (YTD) slicer implemented similarly, marking each row with a 1 if the date falls between the first day of the current year and today, and 0 otherwise.

The primary date range slicer functions correctly whenever the dates are inputted. The MTD and YTD slicers are displayed as tile slicers, and they successfully filter the visual to show data for the current month or the current year, respectively. However, the issue arises when either the MTD or YTD slicer is selected. The primary date range slicer does not update to reflect the date range corresponding to the MTD or YTD selection. Instead, it remains static and does not visually show the start and end dates for the selected MTD or YTD range.

I am looking for a solution that will allow the date range slicer to dynamically update to reflect the selected date range when the MTD or YTD slicers are used, without using bookmarks. I have tried creating dynamic calculated columns and parameter tables, but haven't had any success.

The way the Primary Date Slicer relies on the Date Column. I then connect to a slicer and change it to a between date slicer.
The MTD slicer relies on a calculated column that flags the row if the Date column is within the month, and outputs "MTD". I then connect to a slicer and make it into a button that only shows the data that is "MTD"
The YTD slicer relies on a calculated column that flags the row if the Date column is within the year, and outputs "YTD". I then connect to a slicer and make it into a button that only shows the data that is "YTD"

Question: Can someone guide me on the best way to synchronize all three slicers, while keeping the MTD and YTD slicers as tiles and the date slicer as a range (between) date slicer?

@sb30 I think this is the limitation when you are using date range selection, it will not limit based on the other slicer. It is an in-built functionality.
